Creating Core Vocabulary Environments for Students with Complex Motor and Communication Needs (FRIDAY EVENT)

Description: Core vocabulary is key to communication in all environments and with all communication partners.  Participants will learn to select and represent core vocabulary, design core vocabulary accessible AAC systems, provide core vocabulary visual supports and scaffolds, practice communication partner skills, teach vocabulary, and use core vocabulary at school and home.

Bang for the Buck-Getting the Most from SLP Service Delivery

Description: In this training, Dr. Ehren will discuss issues such as why SLPs provide services in the classroom, when it is appropriate, what these services should look like, and what the benefits of push-in services are for students.  She will provide strategies for pushing services into the classroom in a meaningful way, and will provide ideas for collaborating with teachers to provide services that reflect the classroom curriculum.  Articulation and language interventions will be addressed.

Dynamic Assessment in Schools: A Toolbox for SLPs

Description: Attendees will learn about the newest research on standardized tests and dynamic assessment techniques to document learning potential and difference versus disorder for students with cultural or linguistic differences.  Practice implementing a comprehensive assessment approach for evaluation and eligibility decision making in schools will be provided.  Case studies will be used to model the integration of multiple data sources for decision making purposes.  Free assessment tools, documentation strategies, and resources will be reviewed.
