Game of Access: Explore and Win! (In-person Event)

Description:

Students with complex bodies need ways to independently make choices and access the curriculum. This session will provide participants with hands-on exploration of various switch types and features, mouse alternatives, an overview of the critical considerations for seating and positioning, and winning strategies for educational access. Participants will experience scanning options and digital tools.  In addition, participants will have the opportunity to explore built-in computer and tablet accessibility.  

**Note:  Registered participants should bring their mobile devices (iOS if possible) and a laptop computer to the Game of Access training.  You will need them for some of the hands-on activities that will be provided.

Our presenter, Janet Good, M.S., SLP, is a Speech Language Pathologist on the Technology and Learning Connections team MTSS project.  She is the Unit Coordinator and the Loan Library Distribution Center Coordinator, Port Orange, with Florida's Problem Solving/Response to Intervention Project (PS-RtI)-Technology Unit at the University of South Florida. 

Time: 8:00 AM-3:30 PM (EST); on-site check-in begins at 7:30am. ***NOTE: Please be sure to arrive on time. We are not able to provide ASHA CEUs to any SLP who is more than 15 minutes late to the event.

2024 Leaders Event for OT/PT and SLP Coordinators

Be sure to check into this site again to access the full Leaders Event Agenda. We hope to provide the Agenda by February 15, 2024. It will appear under the course documents below.

Day 1:
  • A representative of the FDOE Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services will provide an update on current topics of interest relevant to related services. 
  • Attendees will also have opportunities to participate in Coordinator Workgroups.
Day 2:  
  • Jose L. Martin, Attorney at Law will present on professional collaborative practices and legal issues.
Hotel Reservation and Event Registration Details

Reservations for sleeping rooms must be completed by February 23, 2024 (Link below.)

Participants must complete two parts to register for the event:

1.  Register to attend the event on the WWE site by completing the pretest and updating your account profile. 

2.  Reserve a sleeping room via the link below for individuals 50+ miles from Safety Harbor.  We provide a maximum of two sleeping rooms per district.  If the SLP and OT/PT Coordinator position is a combined position, one room is provided.  WWE is only responsible for reservations made on the WWE site.  Participants should not contact the hotel directly to make reservations, cancel reservations, or modify reservations.
